Construction is due to start this month on a new three storey, private surgical hospital on the North Shore.
The $15.5 million day-stay surgical centre is a joint venture between a group of orthopaedic surgeons and Southern Cross Hospitals and is being built across the road from Waitemata District Health Board’s North Shore Hospital.
The centre will have three operating theatres, run by about 30 staff, offering keyhole orthopaedic operations. It is expected to be operating by mid-2019.
