Southern Cross Hospitals, a network of 18 private surgical hospitals and medical facilities, has said the move to purchase a half share in MedPro is part of a wider strategy to broaden its business into illness prevention and early health and wellbeing intervention.

MedPro chief executive Bella Winter is the registered nurse founder of the company which provides a range of nurse-delivered occupational health services including vaccinations, heart health checks, work medicals and CPR training. Winter and Southern Cross Hospitals CEO Terry Moore said the two companies would work together to expand the services offered by MedPro.

The MedPro purchase follows Southern Cross Hospitals buying a half share in physiotherapy and rehabilitation provider TBI Health two years ago.
