I think I’ve got a fairly good handle on my personality – I’m well aware of the good, the bad and the ugly aspects. But I’ll be fascinated to see what a Myers Briggs assessment reveals about my character. Along with all the other RVA conference delegates, I’ll get the opportunity to complete the Myers Briggs Type Indicator® assessment ahead of the conference. The Myers Briggs test is an online proven tool used by organisations globally to understand personality types and make people more effective.
At the conference, Amanda Woolridge of XL Coaching will analyse the various personality types and how these impact on the way we approach our work.
I think the Myers Briggs idea is a stroke of genius by the conference organiser. It is a very fitting addition to this year’s RVA conference programme, for which the theme is “it’s all about the people”.
“The focus is on the individual delegates and exhibitors at the heart of their businesses, and helping them be the best they can be,” says RVA executive director John Collyns.
He expects speakers such as Hon Tony Ryall, Simon McGrath, Dame Diane Robertson and Catriona Williams will reinforce this focus on people. I’m particularly looking forward to hearing from Executive Wellbeing Life Coaches Lyndall Mitchell and Shannah Kennedy who will discuss the simple steps to help time-poor high-fliers.
These speakers will be joined by none other than Sir John Key, the keynote business speaker. Neer Korn will be looking at the baby boomers as potential consumers. ANZ’s Sharon Zollner looks at the economy under new management. Matthew Hooton gives his spin on the new Government. Chris Baynes talks about whether droids will make RV redundant and David Walker launches the RVA’s latest original research into the sector.
The social programme looks promising too, naturally kicking off with the annual Grand Adamson Memorial Trophy golf tournament. While you won’t find me on the green, you will find me at Chelsea Perkins’ yoga sessions held bright and early in the hotel. And I wouldn’t miss the Las Vegas-inspired gala dinner for all the show girls in Nevada.
The 2018 Retirement Villages Association (RVA) conference will be held at Sky City, Auckland from 25-28 June. Register before 30 April to take advantage of Early Bird Pricing! Visit the conference website for more information.
